Matthew McConaughey is an American actor. He became famous in the late 90’s, and he is increasingly successful as women’s idol in the 2000’s.
Matthew McConaughey was born in Texas in 1969. He spent his early years studying in Texas, and briefly in Australia. He studied film directing at the University of Texas and graduated in 1993.
Matthew McConaughey played some minor roles in the early 1990’s before he was cast for the not very memorable part of a pshycho-killer in The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1994). He continued working his way towards bigger roles during the 90’s, and became famous in the thriller A Time to Kill (1996). He played a minor part in Contact and Amistad (both in 1997) before getting lead role in U-571, a war movie in 2000.
In the early 2000’s, Matthew McConaughey became more and more popular in Hollywood, mostly starring in romantic comedies such as The Wedding Planner (2001), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), and most recently, Failure to Launch (2005). He showed his versatile talent in other genres as well, including the acclaimed horror movie Frailty (2001), Reign of Fire (2002), and the action-adventure movie Sahara (2005). After the latter, McConaughey began a romantic relationship with his co-star Penelope Cruz.
During 2006 and 2007, Matthew McConaughey is planned to star in several films of different genres including crime, drama, and sport.
