Sarah Jessica Parker is an American actress. She is most famous for her role in the sitcom Sex and the City, and lately, for mainstream movie roles. Parker is also a fashion icon and a role model for many single women throughout the western hemisphere.

Sarah Jessica Parker was born in 1965 in Ohio to a Jewish family. She attended ballet school and learned singing from an early age. Her acting career began on stage, in plays such as The Sound of Music. She also appeared on-screen but did not achieve a breakthrough until the end of the 90’s.

Sarah Jessica Parker starred in many movies during the 80’s, but these roles did not bring her much acknowledgement. In 1992, she appeared in Honeymoon in Vegas, a romantic comedy with James Caan and Nicholas Cage. Parker’s second notable role was another comedy, Miami Rhapsoy (1995). Besides these movies, she appeared in smaller roles near big stars, such as The First Wives Club (1996) and Mars Attacks! (1996)

The breakthrough in Sarah Jessica Parker’s career came in 1998, when she was cast for the role of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, the new series of HBO. Sex and the City became a big hit by reaching most of the single women all over the world. Parker instantly turned into an icon, a role model of the fashionable, single woman.

Although Sex and the City ended in 2004, Sarah Jessica Parker maintained her fame. Her image invented by the show brought her two mainstream movie roles in 2005, both in romantic comedies, Family Stone and Failure to Launch. She has more lead roles on the horizon, for example in Slammer, another romantic comedy due to be released in 2007.

With Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker achieved success in other fields too. Her new position as an icon gave her an opportunity in fashion and in the cosmetics business too. The outcome of these campaigns are yet to be determined, but she already advertised various healthcare products and clothes for GAP.

Sarah Jessica Parker, the role model of the hot single woman also lives in a happy marriage with actor Matthew Broderick since 1997. In 2002 she gave birth to a son. Despite her tremendous success, Parker’s private life has been free of scandals and rumors in the last few years.
